If you still want to avoid - need for one can depend on house – new build or less than 10 years, any repairs should be covered by NHBC – an older or more dilapidated house should have survey – repairs can cost a fortune – make house unsellable/unamortgagable – valuation report is not a survey – only for lender – won’t spot many issues
