There is a nice field next to the house I want to buy. How do I make sure that no one is planning on building on it?
Your local search will only relate to the property you are buying and is unlikely therefore to mention any planning applications on the potential development site. It is always therefore a good idea to check with the local planning office for any applications, and you could also check whether local planning guidelines might allow for any future development. You could also check with the seller and neighbouring property owners to see if they have received any notices. There is no guarantee that at some stage the field will not be built upon.
