I’ve just discovered that my seller is bankrupt. What do I do now?

You should immediately advise your conveyancer and take specialist advice – this can cause enormous problems – if the seller is bankrupt and you complete without the consent of the bankruptcy trustee then the transaction can be set aside and you may lose your house.  It can be very hard to get your money back.  Your conveyancers should carry out a bankruptcy search when you initially instruct them and before completion.
