What is the Council of Mortgage Lenders?

The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) is the industry association for mortgage lenders, and their members deal with 98% of the UK’s residential mortgage lending. They are, in effect, a pressure group that aims to create a favourable operating environment for UK mortgage lenders. They are also the main provider of economic, statistical, legal, research and other market information. Their members are banks, building societies and other mortgage lenders. They also have associate members from other related industries such as solicitors, conveyancers, search companies and management consultants. They also produce the CML Handbook.
