Buying A House Or Flat

My purchase has been registered and my conveyancer has told me that all the deeds have been sent to me. However I have only had something called a “Title Information Document”. Is this right?

Yes – for a freehold property most of the title deeds are obsolete and your lender may well insist on retaining any other documents. For a leasehold property it is very likely that there will be some title deeds remaining, but your lender may again hold onto these. It is worth bearing in mind that you should always receive the original of any copy documents that you have received, i.e. guarantees or FENSA certificates – if you haven’t then get on to your conveyancer right away – sometimes files are not properly checked before they are closed and your document, which could be important, might well have been missed.
