My lender has carried out a valuation report. Do I still need a survey?

The valuation is designed to assure the bank or building society that the property will, if sold, cover the intended loan.  It is not designed to bring to the buyer’s attention any particular defects.   Having said that it is possible sometimes to get your seller’s valuer to go beyond a mere valuation and produce a report which might be of use to you as a buyer.
