My leasehold flat is starting to develop some structural problems. Can I make the landlord pay for it?

Depends on:

1)      Location of damage

2)      Cause of damage

3)      Type of damage

 

Remember that the landlord paying for it means that it will be claimed for on the building insurance – this can lead to higher premiums. Also if it can’t be claimed on your insurance then all leaseholders will probably have to pay through
maintenance charge
