Brighton Solicitor's Guide Preston Circus
Preston Circus is a central hub for Brighton. The busy intersection provides access both to and from the city along the A23. It provides useful public transport links to the rest of the city.
There is more to the Preston circus area than traffic though. Along with a wide selection of interesting pubs and restaurants, Preston Circus boasts the oldest purpose built cinema in the country, the Duke of York’s Picture house. Well known for its independent film showings and the giant striped legs that stick out from its roof, the Duke of York’s picture house is a welcome escape from the faceless multiplexes that plague most of the country.
Overlooking the area is the impressive brick built Viaduct that provides visitors to Brighton by train amazing views across the town and is a welcome landmark to those returning home.
The area has a large student population due to its central location and low rents. The high traffic volume and noise can make the area unsuitable for some. London road, which is the nearest shopping area, is in a rather shabby state and the shops on the street are average at best (negating the wonderful Open Market that goes some way to redeeming the area).
The area is currently earmarked by the council for regeneration and the space just behind London road has seen massive investment over the last few years. With a bit of council TLC and its proximity to Brighton main train station this could make Preston Circus a good investment opportunity.
Property Prices
Homes in the area vary considerably in price from £120,000 for a one bedroom flat to £350,000 -£400,000 for a more substantial four bedroom home.
