A brief guide to Preston Park

Preston Park

Situated far enough outside of the City centre to be queit, yet close enough to be convenient, Preston Park is one of the most popular places to live in Brighton. Preston Park station provides regular trains to London making it popular with commuters.

Based around Brighton’s first and largest planned park, the area has a leafy suburban feel to it. The park itself is beautifully landscaped and provides a poplar destination for dog walkers, joggers and kids playing football.

During the summer it is a hive of activity with plumes of barbeque smoke rising into the hot afternoon air and Frisbees are tossed back and forth over the heads of the seated groups.

Generally bypassed by the London tourists, who are drawn to the sea front in their droves at the first hint of summer, it proves to be a popular place to sit back and relax for the local Brighton population.

There is a bicycle and running track surrounding a cricket pitch, which is always busy in warm weather. There are several tennis courts, bowls greens and children’s play area. Two wonderful cafes at either side of the park provide light refreshments daily.

The area surrounding the park is characterised by large Edwardian and Victorian properties that make it a popular choice for families. Being slightly out of town and with less rental property available the area is sparse with students and young people making it a peaceful place, ideal for a young family.

The area known as Preston Park Village at the far side of the parkis the main residential area and has reasonable shopping facilities but for a big shop it would be wiser to head into Brighton itself. This is also the location of probably Brighton’s best solicitors (us)! So if you are planning a move to the area then please feel free to contact us.

Property prices range from around £290,000 for a two-bed terrace to £600,000 for a four-bedroom house.

There are regular bus services in and out of Brighton throughout the day and into the night. The train from Preston Park station only takes a couple of minutes to get into Brighton main train station.
